This tool communicates with the MDOS Smart Client to pull down an available DPK and apply it to the device using the OA3Tool. A Computer Build Report (CBR) is generated and sent back to the MDOS Smart Client for processing.
A: The OA3Tool is a small application created by Microsoft that is utilized to apply a Microsoft License to a Device. The OA3Tool will also generate the hardware hash and Computer Build Report upon successful application of the license on the device.
A: The Computer Build Report or CBR for short is an XML document that is generated when a DPK is successfully applied to a device. The XML contains the hardware hash, product key ID, serial number of the device, and status number of the product key ID. This report is necessary and required as part of the overall process for applying a new license to a Windows device.
A: The hardware hash is a 4K unique identifier of the device. The hardware hash is an encrypted sequence 4000 characters long. It contains general information of the device including but not limited to the CPU, make, model, ect. . . A new hardware hash is generated when a new Windows license is applied to a device.
A: The Microsoft Digital Operation Services Smart Client or MSC for short is a client side application that is deployed on the deployment floor for refurbishers who are applying MAR Windows licenses for eligible devices. The MSC is used to report, audit, and view the Digital Product Keys that have been issued to the MSC.
A: The Digital Product Key or DPK for short is the 5x5x5x5 sequence of characters used to license and activate Windows. The DPK replaced the paper Certificate of Authenticity (COA) you would normally see affixed to the top or back of a Windows PC.
A: A TPR or Third Party Refurbisher is a PC refurbishing company who has partnered with a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher (MAR) through their TPR Program to acquire refurbisher Windows licenses to be applied to their refurbished device.
